NFL teams trying out new helmet cams

Certain teams in the NFL and in college level football have been trying out a new device called the helmet cam.  This helmet cam gives the viewers watching a POV view of the action.  When the camera is attached to for example a quarterback the viewers are now able to see the what the QB is looking at and how he sees the field.  It brings watching a football game to a whole new level, normally people don't know what goes on in a quarterbacks head or what he sees on a field.  Now viewers will be able to see him call out certain plays, pick out the mike and other key defensive players that could blitz, and just in general see what he's seeing on the field.  It also helps the coaching staff get a new perspective of how there players play and act on the field.  The coaching staff will get the experience of the game in there players perspective.  Currently there is no word on when this cool and very high tech technology will come out.  This could bring watching football to a totally new level.

  1. The cameras would have to be very high tech in order to withstand the impact of the hits. It would also have to be very small in order to fit inside the helmet and not make it incredibly bulky and overbearing. Helmets are already big and heavy adding this in my opinion, while making a great experience for viewers and a better coaching perspective, would make it bulkier and heavier for the players and might mess them up.

  2. Could there be a negative to the fact that the other team would be able to see how the quarterback looks around the field and make better judgment on their defensive plays?
