Donald Montgomery is a very decorated retired police officer in the state of New York for 30 years. Montgomery is also a U.S. Navy veteran, after he took a trip to the hospital where he sought treatment for a sleeping problem, Montgomery was stripped of his 2nd Amendment rights and has had his guns taken away from him. Thanks to governor Cuomo the SAFE act was introduced to New York after the Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut. The law had very little public debate and was passed by lawmakers in New York State. Montgomery's lawsuit says that he was no physical harm to the public nor to himself. I think that it is ridiculous that this man had his guns taken away from him. Not only is it his right to own these weapons it is unconstitutional to take them away from him. Montgomery has done no harm to anybody his whole life. Not only did he serve his community well, he also served his Country in order to keep the right to bear arms. For the government to knock on his door and confiscate his weapons is absurd.
So does the constitution not mean anything anymore? Did he cause any danger to anyone else for them to have to take away his guns.
ReplyDeleteSo they just took his guns because he had a sleeping problem? No other psychological issues that would make him go crazy? He served the country in order to be able to have weapons. Not to mention he knows how to operate and control those guns. Why don't we take guns away from some no good street thug who uses them for harm not for recreation?
